Boom Town

Ayo, this week I wanna pay homage to one of my favorite video directors Benny Boom. Benny been behind many projects for some of hip hop’s greatest acts from Diddy, to Nelly, to Fif and gets mad respect throughout the music industry. Benny Boom’s journey started at Temple University, were he studied Radio, Television & Film. After that he studied under video directors Little X and Hype Williams. Boom is the founder and current CEO of Gorilla Flix a multi-faceted production company. In 2009 he directed his first movie ‘Net Day Air”. He was able to shoot the whole movie in an unprecedented 20 days because he said he already had the film edited in his head. But sit back, relax, and get a face full of these quality gems…

Ayoooo, this video was STRAIGHT DROP! “What Happened to That Boy” was one of his first major projects. This was when Cash Money was heavy into they movement and the Clipse were still tryna make a name for themselves. But the video was hot and is hood certified. “Berrrrrrrrr….”

Ayo, Sean Paul was HOTTTTTT! Sean Paul’s ‘Dutty Rock’ was Official and had everybody ridin the Reggae wave for a minute. This song destroyed the Billboards! ‘So mi go so then…’

“The Top is So Much Betta Than the Bottom…So Much Betta” This video was classic. Released for the soundtrack of the movie “Get Rich or Die Trying” 50 was at the height of his game wit this joint. Who else you know shootin video’s in Monaco riding around in Maserati’s? This one was nominated for a MTV Video Music Award for Best Rap Video…the joint was hot mayne, period.

The homie Benny Boom shot this video on the same set as Desperate Housewives, what director you know was doin that? This song was LARGE fam, #1 on the Billboard for mad weeks and helped push Nellys “Nellyville” to SIX TIMES PLATINUM. Yeah bruh…Nelly did numbers.

THIS ONE RIGHT HERE THO?! This was the one! This set the summer of 2007 on FIRRRRE fam. This song was #1 on the Billboards as well, and was in every club this side of the Milky Way.  This joint is timeless…

The “Touch-It (remix)” tho? WOOOOO! This joint was Classic Bussa Bust and had EVERYBODY on it…my personal favorite was Banks, but that’s just me…You decide.

One of his latest joints, Flocka’s “Hard In The Paint” had clubs closing earlier all across America.  This got ex-convicts everywhere hype while they was ironing they pants for court in the morning…you gotta feel it.

But, these are only a few of the fire that my mans Benny Boom done worked on. He inspires young directors everywhere to be creative and pursue they dreams. My mans been in the game for years and now got is hands in a few movie projects. He just got done shooting S.W.A.T. Firefight and Im sure its go be hot. But Big ups to the homie Benny Boom. Keep givin us that fire.
