The M.A.B.

Puttin You On The Music And The Business

The entertainment industry is far more ill than people believe. I mean, with money, money, and a little bit of extra money...EVERYTHING goes.  If you do even the slightest bit of ya homework, you’d see that being famous comes with a price. You want the cars, you want baguette’s in ya bezel…that’s fine…but how much you willin to pay tho? Now, if you a well informed adult, well, that’s all well and good…If you wanna do what ever it is that you gotta do to reach ‘the top’…cool. But Kids, that don’t know any better? Nah, that’s why somebody gotta draw the line.

Im pretty sure you’ve heard of Raz-B by now, but if not, Raz-B is a former member of the boy band B2K. Barely 16 when recruited by producer Chris Stokes (also Raz-B’s older cousin), B2K went on to sell millions of albums and were on tours all across America. In 2004 the group dissolved after disagreements and contract problems. Well, in 2007 a video ‘leaked’ Raz-B ‘alleging’ sexual abuse against Chris Stokes and label mate Marques Houston.  Several months later, for whatever reason he release a retraction apologizing for the now ‘leaked’ video.  And just a little background on Chris Stokes…Chris Stokes discovered Brandy, managed former boy band ‘Immature’ and dozens of other talent in the LA area under his label TUG (The Ultimate Group)…meaning, the man got dough, and a lot of clout in L.A.’s entertainment scene.

Fast-forward to 2010, in the wake of the Eddie Long allegations, Raz-B has resurrected his crusade in speaking out against the mogul. Not only claiming sexual abuse and misconduct against him self but against the entire group. He basically claimed that everybody was gonna have sex with somebody whether you liked it or not…Now, for the million dollar question: “Why didn’t you say nothing?” His reply? Pretty much, Chris Stokes had his career in his hands…nobody wants to jump out in front of the money train. Well, another question: “Where were his parents and family?” Well, Stokes WAS his family, his older cousin. So when recruited by Stokes from his parents, it was a no brainer to let him join the boy band. Stokes was family, so his safety wasn’t an issue.

Now Im not here to say what did or didn’t happen, but the kid deserves a listening to. Because no straight man, NOT A SINGLE ONE, would lie about gettin sexually abused by another man. Nah…it just won’t happen. Do I agree with how he’s going about it? Nah…doing the internet, radio…that’s a little too much. I think his circle is wrong…he gotta have somebody around him that knows better. The first thing I think that man needs is legal representation. Everything else will take care of itself. But like I said, its hard for me to say I cant believe him. When its comes to youth in entertainment, its not too many people looking out for the best interest of the youth…The Dollar is king. Its gotta be a lane somewhere for somebody to do some business as a legal and or moral liaison between these managers and the guardian. Its gotta be.  Or else….
